Stanford University Infrastructure Program

There are two major components within the Stanford Infrastructure Program (SIP).

1. General campus environmental improvements (SIP-C)
2. Transportation office (SIP-T)

General campus environment improvement programs

The SIP-C programs are related to the implementation of the campus plan, its functionality and its beauty.  The SIP-C funds the following ongoing campus programs:

• Vegetation Management protects the environmental quality and character of the campus. This includes mature tree relocations, infill planting and other landscape improvements.
• Pedestrian / Bicycle Pathways improves and maintains pedestrian and bicycle routes to promote safety, and encourages sustainable transportation modes.
• Outdoor Lighting purchases, installs, salvages, and relocates light fixtures to ensure campus safety while promoting conservation of energy.
• Outdoor Furnishings serves, purchases and installs new trash & recycling receptacles, picnic tables, benches, and dumpster enclosures.
• Outdoor Art sites and installs art pieces that are site appropriate and meaningful to their location, both in terms of the physical environment and the interpretation of the artists' concept.
• Signage designs and implements installation of signage ranging from pedestrian focused regulatory signs to street scaled vehicular directional signs.  The program provides consistent and aesthetically appropriate signs to aid visitors, faculty, students & staff in navigating the vast campus.
• Construction Information Program constructs and installs supplementary construction fencing and informational panels to enhance and educate the Stanford community about its many construction projects.
• Bollards / Vehicle Control protects pedestrian and landscaped zones and controls vehicular traffic.
• Cart Parking looks to group cart parking into convenient locations with appropriate cart access and paved areas and landscape spaces so as to fit them into the campus environment.
• Bike Parking designs and funds the construction costs of locating new or improving existing bike parking lots while maintaining the consistent, uncluttered character of the campus landscape.
